Electric Vehicle Charging

  • Check this reddit post for updates
  • As of 6:30 pm 9/29, Tangers Outlet Mall supercharger is the best option for Teslas, but won't work for other EVs. That area also has gas stations, power, water, grocery store (Ingles) and a few restaurants.
  • Across the street from Tangers Outlet Mall, the Ingles has two free Level 2 J-1772 chargers. 4 ports, but only two operational. We have been able to charge our Leaf here twice already, working well, and seem to be under utilized (I’ve only seen one other car here).
  • Biltmore Forest supercharger is the best option for all other EV models if you have the NACS adapter. Many people don't, so please share if you have one, plan to stay there longer to help someone else out.
  • Publix on South Hendersonville is no longer working, to conserve generator power. Once grid power is restored to the area then it should be turned on again.
  • Tesla Supercharger at Whole Foods on Tunnel Road in East Asheville is still offline, that whole area is without power.
  • Electric Vehicles: 2 superchargers at Publix on Hendersonville Rd, at least 4 superchargers in Biltmore Town Square.

Private Transportation

  • Parking is currently free in all city garages and on-street parking spaces until further notice. If you require long-term parking, please use one of the City garages to help keep on-street parking available for short-term visitors, and only park in designated accessible parking spaces if you have a placard. These simple gestures can greatly assist our small businesses as they recover and work to help restore our local economy. Parking is free until December 1st.
  • On-street parking meters and enforcement will resume, starting on December 2nd, 2024. On December 2, you will have to pay for parking if you park at a metered on-street parking space. Parking fees for city-owned and managed garages and ART bus service will continue to be free until the end of the year, with the exception of event parking fees at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center garage. • We left this morning on 26 towards shelby/gastonia. We had 1/4 tank of gas and just made it to Gastonia where we were able to fill up. Most stations before then were either not open or had pretty long lines. Unsure if the situation has changed since this morning.
  • I have friends who left by that route this afternoon. They had a nearly full tank and 100 miles into SC there were still very long lines at stations that had gas. I would tell him not to try it until he can fill his tank up in Asheville. Maybe wait another day or two. Would be terrible to get stranded.
