Welcome to this week’s #ShoutOutWNC Saturday with Appalachia Relief!
This is a weekly post where we celebrate the work of grassroots orgs continuing to provide critical on-the-ground relief and recovery aid in WNC.
Today’s shout-out goes to Christ Baptist Church Supply Center in Newland, NC.
In their own words:
“On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene struck our town, flooding and completely destroying our church building. Almost everything inside was lost—only a few songbooks and the crosses on the walls could be saved. In the wake of this tragedy, Pastor Billy Ledford and his wife, Amie Ledford, felt called to open their business, Ledford Glass, as a supply center to help those in need. We are committed to staying open as long as there is a need in our community.”
Christ Baptist Church Supply Center provides essential supplies to anyone in need.
- Location: Ledford Glass Building, 1203 Millers Gap Hwy, Newland, NC
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 10 AM – 3 PM (Check their Facebook group for updates)
What They Provide:
“Anyone in need is welcome to pick up supplies. Please be mindful of other families—some items are in short supply, and we have limits on certain products. If you need a supply box prepared for pickup, we’re happy to assist. However, we are unable to deliver due to limited staff (just the three of us running the center). If you’re looking for a specific item, please comment on our designated post, and we will do our best to source it.”

- Donate supplies in person. Currently accepting essential supplies (excluding clothing). Contact Grace Gwyn via the supply center’s Facebook group to coordinate delivery.
- Donate supplies through their Amazon Wishlist.
- Contribute to the church’s GoFundMe for rebuilding. Since the property was rented and uninsured, rebuilding has become a tremendous challenge. To help with these efforts, we have set up a GoFundMe page for those who feel led to donate and support our church’s rebuilding.
